"Your perseverance and excellence in Table Tennis have made our nation proud," the President posted in his message to Dheema on his official X account.
The President has also extended his congratulations to Dheema's family on her remarkable win via a phone call on Wednesday.
He described Dheema's accomplishments and determination as an inspiration, encouraging Dheema to continue excelling in her field.
President Muizzu assured Dheema of his full support for this opportunity.
Besides being the first athlete to qualify for the Olympics by winning the Olympic Qualifying Table Tennis Final in the South Asian region, Dheema is also the first Maldivian player to play table tennis in the Olympics.
The International Olympics will be held in Paris, France from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
