Ismail Moosa (Jambo Isse), a well-known businessman from the Maldives, was killed on Friday afternoon in an accident on the Sinamalé Bridge.
He passed away within 10 minutes of the collision. He was already dead when he was taken to the hospital.
Ismail resided in Bangkok, Thailand. On November 10 of this year, he returned to the Maldives for the first time in 22-years.
He owned several shops on Majeedhee Magu in Malé that sold shoes. He operated a similar business after relocating to Bangkok and later expanded it to include a shoe factory. He also created custom shoes for local vendors in the Maldives. He was later involved in exporting goods from Thailand to businesses in the Maldives.
Ismail came back to the Maldives to visit his family. Reportedly, he was taken aback by how much had changed in 22-years.
The collision happened near the bridge's traffic light at around 2:30 P.M., according to the police. No additional information has yet been made public.
