The national team won the first match, played on Wednesday at Ekuveni, by 11 runs.
Due to rain in Male', the 20-over match was shortened to 15 overs.
AFCC won the toss, and Maldives batted first. With one player out, the Maldives scored 138 runs. AFCC, with five players out, scored 127 runs.
Mohamed Azzam scored 46 runs from 40 balls without getting out, while Mohamed Rishwan made 42 runs from 30 balls. Azzam hit four boundaries and one six, while Rishwan hit two boundaries and two sixes.
Ismail Ali scored 32 runs from 20 balls before getting out. He hit five boundaries during his innings.
AFCC's Mohamed Nazeem was named the player of the match. He scored 62 runs from 40 balls without getting out.
The series between the two teams is scheduled to last four days.
