Woman, who stabbed her brother, arrested with drugs

Lamha who was arrested in the past for stabbing her brother in the head was re-arrested after getting caught with drugs and alcohol.

Lamha Naseer, who was previously arrested for stabbing her brother in an altercation that occurred inside a house in Male’, has been arrested with a large quantity of drugs.

On December 22, 2022, Lamha Naseer of Alavaluge in Henveiru ward, Male' City, was arrested and remanded in custody for stabbing her brother in the head. It was alleged that she was in an inebriated state at the time of her arrest.

She was arrested last Friday night with a large quantity of drugs and alcohol that was discovered in her room. The Criminal Court decided to remand her in custody for 20 days.

The drugs and alcohol were found in her room, the remand order stated. Drugs, as well as sealing and measuring equipment for the drugs, were discovered, along with bottles suspected to contain alcohol.

The drugs found amounted to 318 grams of cannabis, according to the investigation report. The court order also stated that it was carried out in collaboration with others and another person of interest has been arrested in the case as well.

According to the statement, Lamha’s passport was also discovered in the room. Additionally, her urine analysis test also showed that she tested positive for drugs in her system.

Lamha denies the allegations and said that the items found in her room have no relation to her. She further stated that the items were not in her possession and the drugs did not have her fingerprints. She also denies living in the room.

The Maldives Police Service said that Lamha has a previous record of involvement in similar crimes.
