Criminal Court has decided not to go into recess next month.
The lower Maldivian courts go into recess in the month of December usually.
However, Criminal Court said they decided not to go into recess next month as they have had space issues and have been receiving complaints due to a large number of backlogged cases.
The Criminal Court had opted not to go into recess in June as well.
As the current building used by Criminal Court had been deemed unsafe, part of the building has been closed. Even though the decision has been made to shift the court to Hulhumale’, it is still unclear when the shift will be made.
