Cargo vessel with four aboard still missing: MNDF

MNDF stated last night that there was still no news of the cargo vessel named AAA-37 which went missing while travelling from Kaafu atoll Thilafushi to Meemu atoll Medhufushi.

MNDF said that as per the latest reports, four people had been onboard the vessel.

The vessel had left from Thilafushi at 0600 hrs on Saturday. It was reported missing at 17:15 hrs yesterday.

MNDF stated around 22:00 hrs last night that till then, the search for the vessel had been unsuccessful.

Coastguard ship 'Shaheedh Ali' is engaged in the search, MNDF said.

MNDF appealed to the public to inform them if any information regarding the vessel is known.

With the weather worsening as Southwest monsoon begins, MET Office even currently has issued a Yellow Alert from Shaviyani Atoll to Addu City until 10:30 hrs today. MET Office predicts strong winds of 25 to 30 mph and gusts of 50 mph with very rough seas during this period.
