Maldives International Marathon, the first international running event hosted by Maldives, concluded its first instalment, held at reclaimed suburb Hulhumale and capital Male, on Saturday.

The event drew to a close with the children's run, which saw over 800 runners taking part in the 3.2 km, 1.6 km and 800 meter 'KidSmile' events.

The 'KidSmile' runs garnered not just the loudest applause but brought cheer and laughter to the faces of parents and children alike.

An additional 23 participants took part in the Seniors Power Walk 3.2 km run

The two-day event's competitive categories saw the participation of over 1600 runners in the Marathon (42KM), Half Marathon (21KM), 10K and 5K races.
