Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) has announced over 40 new jobs at Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Faresmaathoda Airport.

RACL announced it was seeking candidates for 45 new posts, including airport managers, operations and administrative officers, supervisors, and support staff, including maintenance, security, and firefighters.

Interested applicants are required to submit necessary documents before February 20.

The airport is scheduled to officially open in March 2023. The project contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), said that over 90 percent of the work is now complete.

The airport development project included subgrade and sub-base works on the runway, the development of an apron, a fire pad, and a fire road. In addition to this, MTCC developed a fire building and a passenger terminal, as well as a 1,200-meter runway.

MTCC is also working on completing the bridge structure connecting the airport island to the mainland.

The government of the Maldives contracted MTCC for the airport development project in November 2020; the project is valued at MVR 145 million. The project duration was one year and eight months; however, the project was delayed after the contractor faced problems procuring some of the necessary materials.
