Maldives has advanced to the finals of Asian Central Zone Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup ongoing in the Maldives after defeating Tajikistan in the semifinals on Tuesday night.
The Maldivian team triumphed the semifinals held at Social Center, Male' City last night at a score of 3-1.
Maldives clinched the first set at a score of 25-17 while the second set was closed at 25-22.
Maldives also won against Tajikistan during the round robin stages as well.
Securing the remaining two sets with ease, the team tallied a wide score margin, closing the sets at 25-12 and 25-17.
In the finals scheduled for tonight, Maldives is matched with Kyrgyzstan who defeated Afghanistan on Tuesday evening to claim a spot at the finals. Maldives has previously experienced defeat at their hands during the final game of the round robin stages where the sets were closed at scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-19.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan and Afghanistan will meet tomorrow to battle for the title of third place.
