Bashundhara Kings enhanced their prospects of advancing to the next round in the AFC Cup by securing a 2-1 victory over Maziya in Bangladesh.

Even going into the match, Maziya had little hope of progressing further in the competition.

In their earlier meeting, Maziya triumphed 3-1 against Bashundhara, making their debut this year in the AFC's premier club competition, the AFC Champions League play-offs.

Taking the lead at The Bashundhara Arena in Dhaka after a recent loss to Bangladesh, the hosts saw Ghana defender Reagan O'Ben score the decisive goal in the 10th minute. Despite Bashundhara equalizing in the 80th minute through Bobabek Yuldashev, the winning goal came in the 88th minute, with Miguel Firega scoring through Dorielton Gomez Nascimento (Dori).

Following this defeat, Maziya's aspirations for advancement in the AFC Cup were abruptly halted, while Bashundhara Kings, led by coach Oscar Burzon Barreras, now stand at 10 points and are set to face India's Mohun Bagan, who currently hold seven points.

Tonight, they are scheduled to compete against Odisha FC.
