Leading European tour operator FTI Group and Adaaran Resorts Maldives hosted the first-ever Tourist Travel Agent Visit, on Thursday evening.
With the participation of over 100 Germany based tour operators, the event held at Adaaran Select Hudharanfushi was inaugurated by former president and current Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.

Collaborating with Qatar Airways to conduct a first of its kind tourist promotional activity, the operators are scheduled to visit and experience resort life managed under Adaaran, beginning at Hudharanfushi and concluding at Heritance Aarah - its most recent resort opening.
Assistant Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Adaaran Resorts, Suresh Dissanayake, noted the event as a step in the right direction, adding that it will allow tour operators to experience what resorts offer.
As the fourth largest tour operator in Europe, FTI's Maldives based ground operations are managed under Diethelm Travel, a subsidiary of Diethelm Travel Group and Cyprea Group.
The highest number of tourist arrivals hailed from China, followed by India, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Based on region, statistics show indicate the highest number of guests were European.
Tourist arrivals in July numbered at 132,144, an increase of eight percent compared to the same period last year. The total number of tourists by the end of July amounted to 994,733, a 17.2 percent increase from 2018.
