Novelty Bookshop Book Fair, after a hiatus, is coming back this year, scheduled to start this Thursday, October 10.
This is the first time the book fair is being held after it was stopped during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019.
Novelty said that they have now completed all preparations to hold the book fair at the end of the week. They said that the fair would feature the latest popular titles, with 25,000 unique titles and 185,000 total books.
With space constraints at the venue, Dharubaaruge, the bookshop said that all the books cannot be displayed at the same time. Hence, each day at the fair will see new books brought out on display.
The fair will also see 1000 original titles from Novelty publishers up for sale. This includes Maldivian literature, history books, religious books and children's activity books.
In addition to these, a wide range of stationery including various notebooks and diaries, as well as board games will also be available. Stationery, art and craft items, board games and puzzles will be offered at a discount of 10 to 50 percent.
Every sale of MVR 100 will be given a voucher for a special lucky draw, with MVR 200,000 offered as a prize.
The fair will be held from October 10 to 26 at Dharubaaruge, and will be open everyday except Friday from 14:00 hrs to 00:00 hrs. On Friday, the fair opens half an hour late, at 14:30 hrs and will close at 00:00 hrs.
The books will be displayed at Rannabandeyri Maalam at Dharubaaruge, with other products at Billoori Maalam.
