Adil Moosa resigned as the managing director of Maldives Airport Company Ltd (MACL) on Wednesday.
The president of the Privatization Board, Mohamed Nizar, tweeted saying that the Managing Director of MACL will step down from his position from Thursday onwards as the Privatization Board has accepted his resignation.
According to Nizar, Deputy Chief Information Officer Moosa Solih, the uncle of President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, will step in to replace Adil as the managing director.
Adil Moosa chose to resign as the five-year term of the current government is coming to an end. The inauguration ceremony of President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be held on Saturday, November 17.
Adil Moosa assumed the post of managing director of MACL on 2015.
He assumed office after the main airport was seized back from GMR Group of India. The major projects of the airport under President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s regime were led by Adil Moosa, including the new runway project, the construction of the new terminal and revamping of Velana International Airport.
