International flights at Hanimaadhoo were suspended temporarily due to changes in operating hours made to speed up the completion of the airport development project. International flights have resumed once more with operations scheduled to take place twice a week.

Under the Hanimaadhoo Airport development project, 1,200 meters of the new runway has been laid out, with the complete runway to measure 2,465 meters once the project is concluded. The newly-finished section of the runway was officially opened last Friday.

RACL has stated that unfinished work on the new runway will be completed within this month.
