Kite and Dive Village Fenfushi will host a recital 'Piano by the Sea' on February 25.
Nine-year-old pianist Hillary O‘Sullivan will deliver the performance at a sandbank located on Fenfushi, Alif Dhaalu Atoll.
The concert is part of a charity project supporting local children with an interest in music and art. As part of the event, a piano along with a 200 metre electric cable will be donated to the island. A select number of children that display musical talent will be given sponsorship for formal instruction. The charity project will also include book donations to Fenfushi.
Hillary began playing at the age of three and delivered her first solo recital on the island of Bunaken, Indonesia for the children of a local village.
The recent first prize winner of USA's Piano and String Competition is scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall in June.
The island of Fenfushi, an up-and-coming location for local tourism, is well known for its natural beauty, in particular, a generous sandy beach. Fenfushi is also home to a historic mosque, one of the six coral stone mosques of Maldives in the World Heritage List.
