Ooredoo Maldives launched their 2025 calendar last night, incorporating Maldivian folklore stories.
The calendar, titled "Future Meets Nostalgia," was inaugurated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusan.
Ooredoo, which continues to design and release calendars with interactive concepts using the latest technology, has included a special AI feature in this year's calendar as well. The feature allows users to chat with various folklore story characters from the calendar. This includes characters popular among Maldivians, such as Foolhudhigu Handi and Safaru Kaiyhdha.
The AI feature in the calendar allows users to share stories with the characters, get answers to questions, learn about their world, and experience folklore in a new way.
The feature includes a total of 12 characters, with one character being unlocked each month. Users can only chat with characters once they are unlocked. This is the Maldives' first NFC-integrated calendar.
At the calendar launch ceremony, Ooredoo's Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz said this year's calendar symbolizes the work being done to preserve Maldivian culture while utilizing technology.
Niyaz said the calendar will not only help learn Maldivian folklore interactively but also ensure these stories continue for years to come. He also stated that the calendar represents Ooredoo's ongoing efforts to build a digital nation.
"This is an important step in Ooredoo's work to protect Maldivian heritage, create meaningful connections, maintain relationships between generations through technology, and build a digital Maldives," Niyaz said.
Ooredoo releases calendars every year incorporating various information on Maldives and features, using the latest technologies.
