A police officer serving at the Addu Police Academy has been found dead in the sea. He was reported missing after he failed to return home after Isha prayers last night.
The officer has been identified as Abdulla Yaman Firaq, 22, of Zoomplus, Seenu Hithadhoo.
Police stated that late last night they received reports of Yaman, a special constabulary officer, going missing after Isha prayers.
On receiving the report, police commenced a search operation. Yaman's body was discovered at 1.40 am at the Hithadhoo Swimming Track area.
"Addu Equatorial Hospital confirmed that he was dead on arrival," police said.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
