The Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said that the government has allocated MVR 1.3 million for the implementation of a single-session teaching model in schools
During the inauguration ceremony of Faafu atoll Bilehdhoo School's multi-purpose hall, the Minister Dr. Aishath Ali highlighted the government's substantial investment in implementing the findings of a survey conducted to facilitate the transition of all schools to a single session. The Minister emphasized the development of new buildings to accommodate the single-session model and ensure the smooth functioning of schools.
“The government has budgeted MVR 1.3 million to implement the survey findings and develop new school buildings,” Minister Dr. Aishath said.
“A total of 247 schools infrastructure development initiatives are currently underway, which include 1,716 classrooms, 92 multi-purpose halls, and 563 other buildings and facilities.”
The Minister further highlighted that the construction of staff rooms, administrative blocks, libraries, and laboratories is also underway as part of the ongoing development initiative.
The Maldives government allocated MVR 8 million for the development of Bilehdhoo School's new multi-purpose hall, and is the 15th such hall developed by the current government. The Minister hoped that the new facility would strengthen the relationship between the local community and the school, the new hall facilitating various sporting activities for students and serving as a venue for various functions for the local population.
