Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) launches their mini-bus service under Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) in major atolls, except Male' City.

The mini buses, previously imported to the Maldives, have been proportionately dispatched to designated atolls earlier, prior to kicking off the RTL bus service.

MTCC confirms commencing the service in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and in Gan, Isdhoo and Kalhaidhoo of Laamu atoll.

Transport services will be free of charge during the trial period, effective until August 14, as MTCC tests the bus routes.

RTL services will continue to remain free of charge for students in uniform, children aged three and below, elderly citizens aged 65 and above as well as people with special needs.

Earlier, MTCC had imported a total of 41 mini buses for the RTL bus service which they reported will commence in heavily populated areas in the country including the capital.

MTCC dispatched two buses to Isdhoo-Kalaidhoo, four each to Laamu atoll Gan and Fuvahmulah City, and 13 buses to Addu City as well.

The company reports services in Male' City will require a preparation period of three weeks, before they are launched.

The service in Maldives capital will operate through two major routes for which 12 of the mini buses will be utilized.
