Three storey most to be built on for Barubaree mosque site

Barubaree Mosque has been demolished, and construction is now underway to build a new three-storey mosque on the site.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced that the new mosque "Alisaafu" will be completed within 18 months.

The old structure has been removed to make way for the new building, which will feature a terrace.

The mosque is designed to accommodate 830 people at a time, according to the ministry.

The government has approved the construction of nine new mosques with support from both the public and private sectors. These mosques will be located in Male', Hulhumale' Phase 2 and Phase 3, Haa Alifu atoll Ihavandhoo, Haa Dhaalu atoll Nolhivaram, Raa atoll Alifushi, and Hulhudhoo in Addu City.

In addition, 25 mosques are currently undergoing renovation.
