The Prosecutor General’s Office on Monday decided against prosecuting Adam Azim, the younger brother of jailed former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim.
Azim was arrested last month under allegations of working to topple the government and spreading false information regarding the judiciary of the Maldives.
In a letter to Azim’s lawyer Noorul Salaam Abubakr on Monday, the PG Office declared its decision not to prosecute Azim, stating that his case was sent back on June 19.
Azim is the minister of Maldives United Opposition (MUO)’s shadow cabinet. He was formerly the managing director of State Trading Organisation (STO).
