A female tourist diving off the coast of Hulhumale' suffered a traumatic amputation this morning, losing a leg in an accident.
A tourist who went diving at the diving point near Hulhumale' suffered a traumatic amputation today where she lost a leg.
The accident occurred when her leg came into contact with the running propellor of the diving boat as she was attempting to surface after her dive.
The person injured in the accident is a 63 year old American female.
Police have said that the woman's leg was severed from the knee down. She is currently receiving treatment at the Treetop Hospital in Hulhumale'.
The accident was reported to police at 0830hrs this morning.
