Shahid has been living in New York City since he took office as UNGA President in September.

While noting that he was privileged enough to have been fully vaccinated, including a booster shot, he noted the vaccine equity that has not yet been achieved.

"My prayers are with the millions suffering from Covid and the billions without access to vaccine!"

Foreign Ministry said despite the fact Shahid had tested he was not showing much symptoms. According to the ministry he had met few people over the past couple of days and they have been instructed to caution as well.
