Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has met with the Honorary Consul of Palestine in Maldives Ragheb Ahmed Khalaf on Thursday.
In a social media post shared on X, the ministry stated that Shahid had reiterated the support of the Maldivian government and citizens to the Palestinian cause.
The Maldives condemns the Israeli attacks on Palestine, and has expressed the condemnation in various platforms. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also called on the international community to investigate the inhumane attacks on Palestinian people by Israel, and to ensure justice for Palestine.
Maldives has also called on the UN to reconvene its Tenth Emergency Special Session to address the escalating attacks on Palestinian civilians by Israel.
The government of Maldives has pledged to donate two million cans of tuna to Palestine. Businesses and the public have also raised millions of rufiya in donation funds to the cause.
