Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert from Kaafu Atoll to Addu City till 17:15 hrs today, predicting swell wave surges as well.
The White Alert, from 13:15 hrs to 17:15 hrs, stated that there is a high chance of swell waves in islands between Kaafu Atoll and Addu, when the tides are at its highest.
As per the MET Office, waves may reach 2.8 feet at high tide in Central Maldives, with it reaching 3.2 feet in Southern Atolls.
Male' Raalhugan'du area in Henveiru, as well as the Southern side, experienced swell waves even during the last weekend.
This is the time of year when Maldives sees an increase in swell waves every year.
In past years, swell waves have caused extensive damage in many islands.
