Nazira Hassan, Principal of Izzudheen School, has been appointed as the new Principal of Dharumavantha School.

Nazira Hassan holds a Master's degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction from the Islamic University of Malaysia and has extensive experience in the education sector, having served for 11 years at Hiriya School, where she was Deputy Principal before moving to Izzudheen School on September 23, 2021.

After nearly three years at Izzudheen, Nazira has been appointed as the Principal of Dharumavantha School. Her transfer has been arranged after severe dilapidation of the Izzudheen School building led to it being closed for repairs.

Nazira received a warm welcome by the Dharumavantha School management and students. In a Facebook post, she expressed her gratitude to the Dharumavantha staff, noting that this new role represents a fresh beginning for her.

The Ministry of Education has announced the opportunity for students to transfer to other schools in Malé City during this period.

The Ministry intends for all students from Izzudheen School to be transferred to Dharumavantha School, located directly across the street, as there is currently enough space there.

However, the ministry decided to offer parents the option to transfer their children to schools other than Dharumavantha during this period.

The Izzudheen School building, constructed by the government thirty years ago for the former Male' English School (MES), later housed Mandhu College and Maldives National University (MNU) before becoming Izzudheen School in 2021. Sources indicate that the building was already in disrepair before this.

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu has stated that no other school will operate in the current building, and the property will not be allocated to anyone else.
