Despite Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, and Nepal securing the top spots and qualifying for the final round in the pre-qualifiers held from February 12-17, the Maldivian team showed good effort.
In the women's category, the Maldivian team finished fifth among the 14 participating nations. In the men's section, Maldives secured the 14th position out of 21 competing countries.
The women's team consisted of Naba Nishan, Manha Mohamed Ali, and Lara Ahmed Yazeel, under the coaching guidance of Ivo Fonseka. The men's team, coached by Kumar Adhikari, included Adam Niyaz, Mika Mohamed Kaleem, and Luth Agleem Ahmed.
In the final matches, the Indian men's team secured the top position by defeating the host, Sri Lanka, while Indonesia claimed victory in the women's section by defeating Nepal.
The junior tennis team's upcoming events include the Davis Cup Junior and the Billie Jean King Cup Junior Pre-Qualifying Tournament, hosted by Sri Lanka. The tournament will feature 31 Asian/Oceania countries, including the Maldives.
