Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) announces a new scholarship scheme for tertiary academic courses.
During the MoU signing ceremony on Tuesday afternoon, August 9, MPL announced a total of 7 different scholarship opportunities.
The MoU was signed between MPL and Ministry of Higher Education to facilitate the "Corporate Scholarship" opportunity.
"Corporate Scholarships" are granted to O'Level high-achievers on an annual basis, who aspire to work in logistics and fields related to the work carried by MPL.
The authority announces its decision of granting said scholarship every year.
While MPL will be fully funding the scholarships, High Education authority will be vetting the eligible candidates as well as awarding the scholarships to winning applicants.
Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, during Tuesday's ceremony, complimented MPL's initiative. He further described this was the beginning of the government body's efforts in collaboration with State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) towards building educated professionals.
Apart from the Corporate Scholarship opportunity, MPL will grant scholarships in areas such as port operations, safety, finance, engineering and other relevant fields.
Port authority's CEO Mr. Shahid Ali affirms the company's commitment towards developing educated professionals who will contribute to the workforce.
While the MoU was signed on Tuesday, MPL has yet to announce official date of application submission.
