Islanders from Rasdhoo, Alif Alif Atoll, on Sunday evening, caught a live juvenile crocodile after it was discovered on the eastern coast of the island.
At roughly three and a half feet in length, the crocodile is now under the police's protective care.
Crocodile sightings and discoveries are not uncommon in Maldives. Recently, a four-foot crocodile was found dead on the island of Vaikaradhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
So far, there is no recorded evidence of any incidents or injury caused by a crocodile.
