The government awarded the harbour development project of Himandhoo, Alif Alif Atoll, to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Monday.
The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed. MTCC was represented by Chief Operating Officer Shahid Hussain Moosa.
According to the planning ministry, the project comprises development of a 497-metre outer seawall, 372-metre inner sea wall, and revetments in an area of 110 metres. The project wil also see placement of a harbour light, construction of the pavement adjacent to the inner sea wall, further excavation of the harbour, and construction of a ramp.
The project is to be completed within 350 days, with an estimated cost of over MVR 43.6 million.
