Fire broke out in a row of dilapidated cars on a street in Hithadhoo, Addu City today.
MNDF stated that the incident occurred due to these cars catching fire.
They said that reports of the incident were received at 7:30 hrs this morning. The fire was put out by 08:00 hrs by the fire fighters of Hithadhoo Fire Station, MNDF Southern Area Command.
MNDF confirmed that no persons were injured in the incident. Reasons for the fire breaking out are so far unclear.
Photos circulating on social media show that the cars were extensively burnt after the fire. Along with the three cars parked in the area, surrounding trees were also affected.
