The remand of Ibrahim Ikram, the driver of a speeding car which spun out of control while attempting a turn and crashed into a stationary motorist on the side of the road, has been extended by another 30 days, after his most recent three day remand expired.

Footage from the accident revealed the victim being thrown across the pavement as a result of the impact, with parts of his motorcycle breaking into pieces. The force of the collision had also toppled over a nearby tree.

However, the victim is reported to be recovering with no major injuries.

Ikram who was arrested the same night of the crash after he fled the scene of the accident which took place on the morning of July 31, was initially remanded pending the outcome of his trial.

However, he appealed the order at High Court claiming he was denied the right to be represented by a lawyer during the remand hearing. The High Court ruled in his favour, and he was released from custody on September 1.

Authorities sought another arrest warrant and re-arrested him, which landed him the three day remand.

Another speeding sports car accident took place in the early hours of Friday morning, claiming the life of a prison officer who was preparing to run a marathon just hours later. The 26 year old who was behind the sport was arrested shortly following the accident and was remanded pending the outcome of his trial.
