President has initiated the Riveli program for students overseas

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu initiated the “Riveli” program in Dubai last Tuesday. This program was commenced to provide online education on the subjects of Dhivehi and Islamic studies which will be taught in the Dhivehi language to Maldivian students receiving education overseas.

This program that was initiated at an event held at the Taj Dubai Hotel to engage with Maldivians residing in UAE, was a proposal requested by Maldivians to the President Muizzu upon his arrival at Dubai two months ago.

Addressing this program, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer highlighted that despite commencing this service in Dubai, their hope is to subsequently expand this program to many additional countries with high Maldivian populations.

“This provision of online education is a newly begun service. Therefore, it will need to be improved upon in the beginning. With God’s Will, we have planned to improve the quality of the service after planning a process for surveys and considering the feedback received while also conducting deliberations [for impending improvements] with the Education and Islamic ministry.” Zameer said.

“Accordingly, with the president’s order, we are now preparing to extend the service to individuals living in other countries. Preparations are underway to provide this service to individuals residing in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia in the near future.”

In review of the forthcoming plans, Zameer remarked that the state will deliver services that has never before been extended over the preceding years to Maldivians residing overseas.

Riveli program is an online program run by the Education Ministry that conducts classes in Dhivehi language on the subjects of Dhivehi and Islam for students receiving education overseas.
