A vessel from Faafu atoll Feeali, “Bandharee” has set a new record with the highest number of fish weighed in a single day at Ensis.
On Monday, the vessel weighed over 14 tons of yellowfin tuna at the Ensis Group’s factory, which is worth approximately MVR 800,000. The vessel beat the previous record held by "Maahoara-3" from Haa Alifu atoll Hoarafushi by three tons.
Maahoara-3 had weighed a total of 11.3 tons of yellowfin tuna at Ensis in late 2022. Before that, "Zoom Fisher" from Alifu Alifu Atoll Rasdhoo held the record with 11 tons and 501 kilograms of yellowfin tuna at Ensis.
"Bandharee" belongs to a fisheries-heavy island with many young people active in the industry.
