Iskandhar School has been named the best school at the Ooredoo STEM Fair 2023.
The fair, held on March 2-3 in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Women in Tech Maldives, provided students from seven schools in Malé city with an opportunity to showcase their talents in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while working on innovative projects alongside experts and professionals.
Participants were categorised as novice, junior, and senior, with a range of projects presented by each group. Awards were given for first, second, and third place in each category.
Novice Category:
- First Place: Iskandhar School | Eco-farm Project
- Second Place: Iskandhar School | Waste Electricity Project and Air Pollution Detector Project
- Second Place: Majeedhiya School | Bicycle Operated Vending Machine Project
- Third Place: Ghiyasuddin International School | Solar Dehydrate Project
Junior Category:
- First Place: Ghiyasuddin International School | Wave Barrier Project
- Second Place: Iskandar School | Oevashi Project
- Third Place: Kalaafaanu School | Modernised Zebra Crossing Project
- Third Place: Ghiyasuddin International School | Wave Energy Project
Senior Category:

Speaking at the closing ceremony held at Izzuddin School, the Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali, commended the innovative projects showcased by the students and expressed renewed hope for the future. She also encouraged parents to support their children's interest in STEM subjects.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Hussain Niyaz, praised the students for their understanding of how to work around environmental problems to find effective solutions. The fair aimed to provide students with a platform to showcase their talents, productivity, and craftsmanship in STEM fields, with the hope of creating innovative students who will drive the future of the Maldives.
