HDC has decided to incorporate additional facilities in Kudagiri and has revealed that related efforts are currently ongoing.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has decided to establish additional facilities at the Kudagiri Picnic Island opened during the tenure of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in order to dedicate an island for Male' citizens to go on picnics to.
On a post on social media platform, X, Managing Director of HDC, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed stated yesterday that efforts to develop Kudagiri, which remains under the supervision of HDC, with additional resources is presently ongoing.
"Well refined services will be provided to the people through Kudagiri in the future," he said.
Spokesperson for the President's Office, Heena Waleed, has also reiterated that the government is ensuing efforts into expanding the resources in the island of Kudagiri.
She emphasized that in review of the complaints recieved over the challenges and the lack of sufficient resources in the island, the government will arrange procedures to provide even further refined services in order to find a solution to the issue.
Kudagiri was opened last year on February 11 after concluding the reclamation of a lagoon near Male' City. While it is developed to cater to a daily demand of 500-600 people, the complaints regarding insufficient resources were always recieved.
Kudagiri presently has 13 huts with 7 beaches. The island also has special facilities for beach sports, a mosque, a clinic, a store, private rooms, changing rooms and restrooms. Diverse recreation activities are held in the island and it is further available for rent to host events.
The island is just twenty minutes away by speed boat from Male' City.
