A 17 year old girl has fatally drowned this afternoon.
The teenager had been swimming at an uninhabited island near Thaa atoll Vilufushi, visiting the island on a picnic.
Police said that she was taken to Vilufushi Health Center around 12:45 hrs this afternoon, but was declared dead on arrival.
