Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, on Tuesday, held a meeting with the Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Dr. Junichi Yamada.

During the meeting held in Tokyo, State Minister Khaleel expressed gratitude to JICA for the numerous development projects JICA carried out in Maldives over the past few decades. The State Minister highlighted that these projects improved the lives of locals.

Khaleel also noted that JICA’s programs have facilitated cultural contact between the two countries and provided necessary developmental assistance to Maldives.

In addition to discussing the recent exchange of visits between the two countries, the State Minister and the Vice President deliberated on sectors in which Maldives and Japan could collaborate in the future.

Several other top Maldivian diplomats also attended the meeting, including the Maldivian Ambassador to Japan Ibrahim Uvais, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Zeena Mohamed Didi, and officials of the Maldivian Embassy in Japan.
