The Maldives National University (MNU), on Wednesday, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with European Institute for Export Compliance (EIFEC) and University of Turin, Italy, to implement a programme for Health Emergency Risk Management compliance in an epidemic context.
During the special signing ceremony held at MNU, the MOU was signed by MNU's Vice Chancellor Dr Mohamed Shareef and by EIFEC's Director General Charles Giacoma.
Participants of the joint programme will be EIFEC-certified, which Director General Charles touted as an important step in acquiring the trust of tourists for such a heavily tourism-dependent economy.
EIFEC is the Export Compliance international standard-setting organization tasked with the development of standards, guidelines and certification mechanisms for emergency situations, including the threat of nuclear, biological and chemical armaments proliferation, sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering, and Health Emergency Risk in an epidemic context.
