Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Saturday recorded six new cases of COVID-19 in Maldives.
According to the agency, a total of 46 cases were recorded on Saturday, consisting off 20 Maldivians, 24 Bangladeshi nationals, one Indian national and one Nepali national.
Speaking at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) press conference, President Office's Communications Undersecretary, Mabrouq Abdul Azeez also noted that nine patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19 had recovered, marking 29 recoveries till date.

As of 02:00am, confirmed an additional 25 cases of COVID-19 infection in Maldives.
Cases:
- 20 Bangladeshis
- 05 Maldivians
Total number of cases: 790
HPA further confirmed that an individual transferred from Addu Equatorial Hospital to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) had tested negative for the virus. The authorities initially reported a false positive earlier on Saturday.
With this development, Maldives presently records 790 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 758 active cases and 3 deaths.
Maldives’ capital Malé, one of the most densely populated cities in the world, has recorded a significant increase in COVID-19 since it recorded its first local transmission of the virus on April 15, involving a Maldivian woman that sought assistance from a flu clinic in Malé after developing symptoms for the virus.
The country recorded its first COVID-19 related death, of an 83-year-old local female, on April 29. Since, two more individuals, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi man and a local 80-year-old man have succumbed to COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 4.1 million people and claimed over 280,400 lives around the world. However, out of those infected, 1.44 million people have recovered.
