Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), on Monday, stated that a yacht docked at the lagoon of Kuda Villingili, Kaafu Atoll caught fire at approximately 0530 hrs.
According to MNDF, the Australian vessel 'Verita' sunk at 0900 hrs while fire and rescue services were working to extinguish the flames.
Reportedly, three men identified to be of Australian nationality were aboard the vessel at the time of the incident. The individuals moved to a nearby liveaboard after the yacht caught fire and were later taken to the Thulusdhoo Health Centre.
MNDF spokesperson Ibrahim Azim confirmed that neither individual sustained serious injuries.
