A total of 868 students graduated from Maldives National University (MNU) on Saturday evening.
Among the students graduating with certificate level qualifications including degrees and masters, 609 were female while 260 were male.
The most popular qualification was the Diploma in Nursing, which 64 students graduated with.
Prominent businessman Ibrahim Saleem attended the graduation ceremony as an honourable guest.
During his speech, he expressed that a country's development hinged on the education of its young citizens. He added that knowledge in diverse fields such as linguistics and mathematics were all necessary for nation-building.
He also spoke in favour of students incorporating healthy lifestyle choices such as regular exercise as well as learning to efficiently manage time.
