Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) stated that 21 events to promote Maldives will be held over the course of six months.

The activities include roadshows held in South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, France, Italy, and a roadshow in Thailand specifically targeted towards Asian countries.

The roadshows will also be carried out in the United Kingdom, USA, Japan and China.

MMPRC has already held about 20 promotional activities within this year, including travel fairs, roadshows and familiarisation trips.

The main event to be held this year is the World Travel Market (WTM). WTM London is the leading global event for the travel industry to meet professionals and conduct business deals. Over three billion businesses attended the event last year alone.

While MVR 157 million was allocated for tourism promotion in the state budget for this year, the government has spent MVR 40 million thus far.
